Part 6 - Interior
Now that you’ve sorted out the exterior and the glass, it’s the ideal time to take the vacuum cleaner out into the driveway and give your car’s interior a good once over. Muddy shoes and dirty dogs can mean you end up with dirt ground into the carpets, stains on your upholstery and streaks of mud across the interior plastics.
Upholstery
Give the carpets and upholstery a thorough going over with the vacuum cleaner and use a good quality Upholstery Cleaner to get stubborn dirt out of fabrics and a Dash and Door Cleaner to get rid of marks on your interior plastic trim. Spray the foam onto any problem areas on the fabric before massaging into the material with a microfibre cloth. Use the same method for any areas on the dash and doors and wipe off with a cloth.
Leather
If you have a leather interior, our Executive Leather Kit contains all the products you need to keep the inside of your car clean. Start off by diluting the Leather Cleaner solution in the foaming bottle provided. Fill the bottle up to the first red line with this solution before topping up with tap water to the second red line. This will create a slow reacting foam which will pick up all the dirt particles which are embedded in the material. Leave the solution to sink into the leather slightly before wiping off with a microfibre cloth.
Secondly, the Leather Barrier Cream in this kit will help to preserve your leather seats by adding a layer of protection to help prevent cracking or wearing out of the material. Add a small drop to the centre of the soft application sponge and massage into the surface of the leather seats. If you have perforated seats massage the cream into the sponge before applying to the seats to avoid depositing lumps of product into the holes of the material. Leave the cream to dry and then wipe off any residue if necessary.
Finally, the Ink Stain Remover stick is a very handy tool for removing stubborn stains on your leather. The stick absorbs the ink stains on the surface of the material and if used soon after the stain was created you will be able to remove it effortlessly and help prevent permanent staining. This stick will also remove lipstick, heel scuffs and other difficult stains on most top-finished leathers.
Top Tip:
Test interior products on a hidden area of the material before commencing the full cleaning process.
Be careful when removing stains as it’s easy to make things worse by scrubbing at the mark. This can drive the contaminant deeper into the fabric so always dab your cloth on the stain to allow the cleaner to penetrate the fibres and lift the dirt to the surface where it can be absorbed by your cleaning cloth.
